PASSEGIATE Y CANZONI DEL RINASCIMENTO

It is a tradition close to that of improvisation that is at the center of this recital carried by soloists of the ensemble Près de votre oreille: la diminution. A starting point for the emancipation of instrumental music, this art consists in diminishing the values of the notes of a dance or a song whose frame allows to improvise. It is to a Spanish composer that we owe one of the most important methods of reduction. Diego Ortiz published in Rome in 1553 his Trattados de glosas, in which one discovers the bases of the art of later composers like Bartolomeo de Selma and Vincenzo Bonizzi, who improvise on the most famous songs of the Renaissance, composed among others by Cipriano de Rore or Roland de Lassus, whose beauty still amazes us today.
